Lochinvar replacement plant delivers savings for school

Energy consumption for heating and hot water at this boarding preparatory school in Oxford has been reduced by 12% following the replacement of existing plant with Lochinvar equipment.

Gas-fired condensing boilers and water heaters supplied by Lochinvar for Dragon School, a preparatory school in Oxford, to replace existing equipment will reduce energy consumption and emissions. Two CP-M wall hung boilers and three TurboCharger direct gas-fired water heaters serve a large boarding house, the health centre, main kitchen, dining hall, offices and staff accommodation.

The equipment was installed by H&E Engineers of Oxford, whose Ian Hardwick explains, ‘In this situation, the size and design of the equipment was an important issue due to the available space in the plant room and particularly as the CP-M boilers are wall mounted, we were able to free up some valuable space for our customer.’

Steve Poyntz, estates bursar for the school, comments, ‘Against a very tight programme, H&E Engineers delivered on time and within budget, and we also took the opportunity to connect all new plant into our Priva BMS, installed by PA Collacott. The results delivered from the first three quarters of operation speak for themselves, with a 12% reduction in both CO2 emissions and kWh consumption compared to the same period last year.’
