Zehnder provides Refined heating choice for Chevron
Published: November 2010
The new general-stores warehouse at Chevron’s Pembroke refinery is heated using Zehnder ZBN radiant panels. Paul Bullock, mechanical design engineer with Bullock Consulting, says, ‘With a ceiling heating of 9 m, radiant technology was the obvious choice. Radiant heating’s ability to provide a uniform distribution of heat in large space whilst also achieving energy savings of up to 40% in comparison to other systems made it the most economical and energy-efficient solution.’ These radiant panels are served by high-temperature hot water. The installation required panels in lengths of up to 104 m. The panels have large waterways of 25 mm and 45 mm header tubes. They are available with connections up to 32 mm. Paul Bullock explains, ‘With such long runs we also had to ensure the water travelled efficiently through the panels. By working closely with Zehnder’s technical services team, we were able to design a hydraulic system which ensured optimum heat transfer.’ For more information on this story, click here: Nov 2010, 107 Related articles: |
