BG Controls devises BMS solution for new school

BG Controls,BMS
The challenging task of providing the building-management system for this school in Bognor Regis has been completed by BG Controls.

The control panel for The Regis School in Bognor Regis was specially built by BG Controls to be placed on a 3 m-square concrete base on top of the school. This U-shaped panel was built in the company’s workshop and had to be vertically wired and tested. The wires were then disconnected and all three sections taken apart for reassembling and testing on site before being craned on to the designated base.

Project manager Simon Shaw says, ‘Building a panel to fit on such a small awkwardly positioned base was particularly challenging as BG has never had to do this before.’

This £39 million Building Schools for the Future development includes a complete reconstruction of Bognor Regis Community College, bringing the building up to date with all the latest eco-friendly technologies.

The BMS installed by BG Controls monitors and controls technologies such as natural ventilation, biomass boilers, gas boilers and air-handling units to maximise energy efficiency.

The new building has over 400 rooms. Facilities for the 1800 pupils include a library and catering area with 25 m-high windows for natural ventilation, fitness suite, lecture theatre, dance and drama studios, gym and main hall with HD performance space.
