Oventrop is sole valve supplier for three new college buildings
Published: January 2011
Oventrop valves have been used throughout three buildings that form part of the £21 million Phase 3 redevelopment of Southampton City College — including commissioning sets and differential-pressure regulating valves — thereby streamlining the purchasing route. They were installed by Haydon Mechanical & Electrical. Included in the contract is a new energy centre housing a CHP plant and condensing boilers which serve the complete campus. The energy centre produces low-temperature hot water, which serves radiators, air-handling-unit circuits, four unit heaters and 12 fan coils in the Watts building. Oventrop commissioning sets and differential-pressure regulating valves were used to hydronically balance the various circuits. Nearly 150 AV6/Combi 4 TRV sets control radiators in the three buildings. The AV6 TRV has a presettable valve insert permitting adjustment of water flow to suit heat demand.
