Sales for retrofit boiler load optimiser surge ahead
Published: March 2011
Sabien has reported a near trebling in sales for its M2G intelligent boiler load optimiser during the second half of 2010. This device is retrofitted to boilers and prevents them firing just to offset standing losses when heat is not required by the system. The MG2 monitors the temperature of flow and return water every 10 s and calculates whether the falling temperature is due to genuine heating demand or from losses through the boiler casing and flue — in which case the boiler is prevented from firing. Significant energy savings are claimed for the technology, which complements and integrates with existing boiler controls by identifying any changes to a boiler’s set point from building-management systems or additional controls such as weather compensation.
