Permanent magnets add to pump efficiency
Published:  May 2005
Pump

Based on permanent magnets, the P range of Biral Pumps form Hamworthy Heating are much more energy efficient than other pumps.

Hamworthy Heating has launched a range of Biral pumps using permanent magnets. The P range of pumps is said to achieve energy savings of 30% at full load and up to 60% at part load. This feature makes them particularly for boilers and systems that modulate, have weather compensation, or condensing boilers.

These pumps have built-in inverters linked to motor technology that has won energy-savings awards in Switzerland and Germany. This technology is now applied to pumps up to 65 mm bore, giving flow rates suitable for boilers up to 1000 kW with a difference of 20 K between flow and return temperatures.

There are six models with flow rates up to 12 l/s. They adapt automatically to variable flow rates and system resistance. For example, the 65 mm-bore pump modulates from 515 W to 50 W.

These pumps qualify for Enhanced Capital Allowances.
