NG Bailey wins major contract for Sheffield Children’s Hospital

NG Bailey, contractor

NG Bailey has won a £7 million contract as part of a major modernisation of Sheffield Children’s Hospital. The project is for providing the M&E services for a £40 million extension. Working with principal contractor Simons Group, NG Bailey will compete its role on site in August 2016.

The company will use the expertise of its specialist off-site manufacturing facility to build all corridor modules, risers and plant-room services for transporting in phases to site for installation. This approach will enable the hospital to remain fully operational throughout the redevelopment work.

As part of the enabling works ahead of the main project, NG Bailey installed two new generators to supply the whole hospital estate with emergency power.

The main project is a mix of new build and refurbishment of existing facilities, some of which date back to 1903.

Work includes a 3-storey wing to replace three existing wards. Each ward will have more single rooms with en-suite facilities to enable parents to stay with their child. There will also be anew outpatients’ department and reception atrium.
