Adapted by Weatherite to be self supporting is this kitchen ventilation system in a school in Telford.

Faced with being unable to suspend a kitchen ventilation canopy from the roof in a school in Telford, Weatherite designed a special self-support system made from stainless-steel hollow section.

The project for a new kitchen at Stirchley Junior & Infants School called for the design and manufacture of a stainless-steel island extract canopy with ductwork terminating in a roof-mounted fan.

Mike Turton, sales director with Weatherite Building Services, explained that the total installation had to be completed during a half-term holiday to suit a tight timetable which included other modifications to the school building.

The contract involved extract equipment supplied by Weatherite as part of its partnership deal with De Kobra, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of kitchen ventilation systems. The agreement covers both the design of canopies and a complete kitchen ventilation package for the commercial sector.
