Riello burners meet boiler requirements of new Romford hospital

Riello
All four main boilers in the new Queen’s Hospital at Romford are powered by 6 MW Riello burners.
The heating and hot-water systems for Romford’s new £261 million Queen’s Hospital are powered by four Riello industrial burners with a capacity of 6 MW. These Monobloc dual-fuel burners are installed on 4.1 MW steel hot-water boilers. Riello also supplied four gas boosters. The dual-fuel capability (gas and oil) ensures security of service if either the gas or oil supply fails. The preferred fuel is gas. Riello worked closely with Bovis Lend Lease, sub-contractor Haden Young and controls suppliers to ensure the monitoring and controls facilities of the burners were completely integrated into the hospital systems. These burners have inverter control of the combustion-air fan. Fully modulating control is achieved by separate adjustment of the air and fuel flow by separate electronic servomotors. The integral burner-management control unit offers additional features such as communication with a BMS, PC or computer network systems, exhaust-gas analysis with oxygen-trim facility and full boiler sequencing.
