ICS on fast track to 2012 Olympic Games
Published: March 2007
The 2012 Olympic Games in London has already generated business for Integrated Controls Systems. The company has won the fast-track contract to design and install the controls for offices being used by the London Development Agency, the regeneration agency laying the foundations for the games. The LDA has established a 5600 m2 headquarter on the fifth and sixth floors in the 11-storey Palestra development near to Southwark Bridge in London. ICS was already working on a £650 000 shell-and-core contract in the building, building motor-control panels, installing 500 fan-coil units with associated base-build controls for air-handling units, boilers and chillers and which is nearing completion. ICS carried out the 2-floor fit-out for LDA concurrently, installing new air-handling units and fan-coil units and moving others to meet the requirements for an unusual number of meeting and conference rooms, together with the design and installation of controls for the ground-floor reception area, pod and pool occupied by LDA. Both contracts, worth £750 000, were awarded by Skanska, the main contractor. Consulting engineer on the shell and core was Aukett, with Connell Mott MacDonald as consultant for the fit-out.
