CHP reaches new heights in new residential development in London

The UK’s tallest residential building will include a 135 kW(e) CHP supplied by Ener-g.

he CHP system being supplied by Ener-g for the UK’s tallest residential building, Pan Peninsula next to Canary Wharf, is expected to cut carbon-dioxide emissions by 207 t a year.

The CHP system is part of M&E systems being installed by Haydon Mechanical & Electrical for Ballymore Properties.

The £27 million Pan Peninsula project is due to be completed in 2009 and comprises two towers. The taller tower will be 149 m high and have 50 floors. The development comprises 762 luxury apartments, a private cinema, sports and spa centre and a landmark waterside restaurant.

The CHP system will have an electrical output of 135 kW and 215 kW of heat from an Ener-g 135 reciprocating engine using natural gas. It has on-board micro-processor control and protection, and can be monitored remotely.
