Hulley & Kirkwood helps Erskine Trust care for veterans

As part of the 4-year phased replacement of veterans’ colleges on the Erskine estate at Bishopton near Paisley, Hulley & Kirkwood is working with Mast Architects and Erskine Trust to reduce the carbon footprint of these buildings. Approaches adopted include SEDBUK A-rated gas-fired low-Nox combi boilers, whole-house ventilation and external lighting controlled by photocells.

Air permeability tests on earlier phases of the project will enable the capacity of the heating system to be reduced on future phases.

Six new semi-detached colleges have already been completed (pictured). Work has started on the next phase with the demolition of six older cottages to make way for eight new properties with three, four and five bedrooms.
