BACnet forum returns to London after 10-year gap

Published:  30 March, 2011

BACnet

The first BACnet Forum to be held in London for 10 years will be on 13 April and enjoys the support of CIBSE and the Building Controls Industry Association. It will feature four major sessions dedicated to the development and opportunities for open building automation in the UK and the permanent development of the standard. There will also be coverage of projects in the UK. The event is free to attend. More information is available at the link below.

A total of 14 international sponsors will be making presentations or exhibiting their BACnet-compatible products during a parallel trade show.

This event is being organised in response to the lack of information about the capabilities of BACnet. The breakdown of the UK controls market is 75% proprietary, 21% BACnet and 4% LonWorks. The relatively low market penetration of BACnet in the UK compared to other European countries, such as 34% in Germany, is expected to grow swiftly as BACnet products are launched by major manufacturers.

Big names from the building-automation world will report on the application of building-control systems in the UK, explain the impact of standardisation and highlight the future role of BACnet.

They include M. Röhl, president of BIG-EU, Ian Ellis, president of BCIA, Klaus Wächter from CEN TC 247, and Jeremy Towler from BSRIA.

Details of the venue are on the link below.
