Glow-worm extends its heat-pump offering

Glow-worm has added larger units to its Clearly Heat Pumps range of air-to-water heat-pump systems. The new units have outputs of 7, 12 and 14 kW and form part of a fully integrated heating and domestic-hot-water system that is straightforward to install and easy for homeowners to use. The Clearly Heat Pumps system comprises a number of key components that work together to create a highly efficient installer- and user-friendly system. Compared with an older standard-efficiency boiler, carbon savings of up to 40% are possible, and the range can help achieve Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes. The compact and quiet heat pump can achieve high efficiencies by virtue of its advanced compressor technology that intelligently modulates output to avoid inefficient stop/start operation, which also maximises the lifetime of the unit. The Hydraulic Unit AS simplifies installation by eliminating the need to fill the entire system with glycol anti-freeze — just the circuit between the hydraulic unit and the outdoor unit. The hydraulic unit incorporates a 6 kW back-up heater that is managed intelligently to deliver additional heat only during extreme cold weather. Other equipment in this unit includes central-heating circulating pump, PRVs for both the glycol circuit and heating circuit, and filling valves so the system can be filled from indoors. The Systempro central installer interface co-ordinates the system and offers a step-by-step commissioning features. The Climapro2 wireless handhold controller enables heating and hot-water requirements to be programmed for every part of the day. A wireless outdoor temperature sensor provides weather compensation.
