Mini-gym demands give air conditioner a thorough work-out

Heating in winter, air conditioning in summer and dehumidification to cope with the hot tub in this conservatory next to a house in London is provided by a Toshiba heat-pump air conditioner.

Air conditioning — including dehumidification, heating and cooling — has been provided for a domestic conservatory in west London housing a range of exercise equipment. The free-standing conservatory is close to the house and thus requires heating in winter and cooling in summer to offset the considerable heat gain through its glazed roof.

The 15 m2 space contains an Aegean Grand Canyon hot tub and gym equipment, including a rowing machine and running platform. The hot tub means that dehumidification is vital for most of the year.

A Toshiba heat-pump RAS hi-wall unit was installed by accredited Toshiba installer Metainy. It has the capability of maintaining 22°C all year round. The outdoor unit is exceptionally quiet and discreetly sited behind the conservatory.
