The former pub is now a contemporary restaurant with 130 covers.
A feature of the refurbishment is the terraced glazed facade. High heat gains and losses through the glazing, which covers both floors of the building and part of the roof, made air conditioning essential.
Two Toshiba systems were installed by Bostock. One is a 28 kW VRF SMMS heat-pump system for the main restaurant. The other is a digital inverter twin cassette system for the upstairs bar area and reception.
The layout of the dining area lent itself to the neat arrangement of six Toshiba one-way-blow ceiling cassettes in a row near the spine wall of the building below the mezzanine floor.
Kevin Bostock says, ‘The installation worked out very well. The outdoor units are sited in a service area near neighbouring residential buildings, but with these new systems, nothing is audible and no disturbance is caused.’
