Promoting building-services engineering to schools — Richard Crook (left), a former winner of a National Training Award, revisits his former school, Ralph Thorsby School, where he is pictured with head teacher Stuart Hemmingway.

To promote building-services engineering as a career, four winners of last year’s National Training Awards organised by SummitSkills, have visited their former schools to act as ambassadors for the industry.

They include Richard Crook from Airedale Mechanical & Electrical in Guiseley, Gavin Jones from Integral in Manchester, Nick Bloore from Bailey and James Bamber from E. Poppleton & Sons in Colwyn Bay.

Michael Reeves, development manager with SummitSkills, says, ‘SummitSkills is continually working to promote the building-services-engineering sector, and this has been a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness. I would like to thank our 2007 winners for their participation in this schools project. They are a great inspiration for those entering the industry and will, I’m sure, go some way to attracting new entrants.
