Downlights and spotlights use LEDS

Cooper Lighting

Cooper Lighting has developed two new lighting products using LEDs — a spotlight and a downlight. The Axent RXD downlight (illustrated) is said to be the first truly viable LED alternative to traditional compact-fluorescent downlights. The Axent DXS spotlight offers major benefits for retail and display lighting.

The RXD downlight can reduce energy consumption by 35% compared with downlights that use two 26 W compact-fluorescent lamps. The downlight is optimised to achieve a CRI rating greater than 80 and over 1400 lm of usable light — not to be confused with LED source lumens — while drawing only 37 W. Based on 10 h use per day, the life of the RXD is over 13 years.
