New urinal shape reduces splashback

Armitage Shanks, urinal

Armitage Shanks’ hygenIQ urinal is designed to reduce splashback by up 90% compared to traditional designs. The key design feature is a central fin cast within the bowl. Urine hits either side of the fin at a very shallow angle, and surface tension causes it to cling to the inner side of the urinal bowl. Any splashing that does occur remains in the bowel.

Testing alongside traditional urinals included using ultra-violet light to show splashback. Independent testing with the University of Hull showed a reduction in spashback of up to 90%.

Inlets, outlets and fixing points are standard, so hygenIQ can replace existing urinals. They come in two sizes.
