Ground-source district heating uses MHS interface units

MHS Boilers, heating interface

From prestigious office to prestigious apartments — Lakeshore at Bristol includes a central geothermal heating and hot-water system with interfaces provided by MHS Boilers.

The conversion of the former headquarters of Imperial Tobacco at Bristol, dating from 1974, into apartments includes a central geothermal heating and hot-water system with interfaces to each apartment provided by 270 Nexus Bitherm wall-mounted units from MHS Boilers. Lakeshore, as it is now called, is a major renovation of the Grade 2 listed building and consists of studios and apartments with one and two bedrooms.

The futuristic design of the original building was clad in Cor-ten steel designed to give the building a life of 800 years. The redevelopment also includes offices and was a joint partnership between Urban Splash and the Homes & Communities Agency.

The Nexus heat-interface units are part of the district-heating scheme. They include as standard a heat meter with M-Bus output for remote reading.

M&E contractor for the installation was CF Roberts of Cheltenham.
